Venice, the city of gondolas

April 30th, 2009

In the country of Ferrari and Lamborghini is a city where cars are no good for nothing. Venice, Italy, is a city built on the waters of Laguna Venetta, in northeast Italy, a place of shallow water and calm, perfect for the only available means of transport, the famous and charming gondolas.

And look to the city on water is not small! More than 260 thousand inhabitants living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, classified by the historian Fernand Braudel as the first economic capital of capitalism!

Interesting that the Italians believe (and rightly) Venice the most beautiful city in the world. And, ironically, right next door, on the mainland, lies the town of Mestre, a city so ugly that the Italians call “the most ugly in the world.”
